Where was this recorded?

A small plane flying past makes a Doppler curve. Match it against public ADS-B tracks and the curve pins down where the mic was. Audio never leaves your browser.

The location comes only from the sound. No GPS, no browser location prompt, no IP lookup, no cookies, no analytics.

Try an example

Each example comes with its own slice of the flight index: every low propeller flight on Earth from 11:36 to 11:48 CEST on 18 Jul 2025 (1,147 flights). The page gets only the sound. Not the place, not the time. Press Locate, or play it out loud and use Start recording to test your mic.

Simulated audio from real flights

Two small planes over English farmland

5 minutes of what a microphone in a field would have heard: two propeller aircraft passing about 4 minutes apart. The audio is synthesized from their real ADS-B tracks, because no public recording has two planes and an exact known spot.

Real recording

Birdsong on a Dutch heath

2 minutes recorded for its birds and cows on Kampina heath, Netherlands, 16 km from the nearest airport. A small plane hums past in the background around 0:39. With one plane the sound narrows the world to a shortlist, not a single spot.

Record with your microphone

Go outside or open a window. Record at least 90 s while a propeller plane passes. Voice processing is turned off so low hum survives.

Or analyze an audio / video file

Pick the part of the clip where the plane passes, e.g. a movie scene. Every indexed day is searched, newest first.
